CNN‘s travel editors have picked the island of Sri Lanka as one of the ‘best places’ to visit this year.
Encouraging and urging readers to “travel to see destinations other than our own, expand our knowledge of our planet and celebrate the beauty of human accomplishment and natural wonders all over the world,” CNN has included Sri Lanka amongst some of the world’s most-exotic travel destinations.
Denmark, Chile, Dominica, Estonia, Ireland, Jamaica and other nations were among CNN’s top 20 must-visit destinations.
“The South Asian island nation of Sri Lanka is as ancient as it is beautiful; as complex a civilization now as at any time in its 2,000-year history,” CNN noted.
“Despite recent tumult (the horrific terror attacks last Easter), Sri Lanka remains an essential destination, an epicenter of history, with relics and ruins, temples and palaces, wildlife running free.”
